Wake Up!

Posted on: April 8, 2007

Malcom X said, “Anger is a gift.”

In a situation where poverty is a fact, corruption is a living disease, and education system is so frustrating then it is time for us to be angry. We should not just sit here and do nothing.

When the government is just a group of people trying to look good and enrich themselves then it is time for the people to be angry. What should I do to wake you up? Do I have to scream out loud in front of your innocent faces? Do I have to drag you in force just to let you know that you are being mistreated? Tell me what do I have to do to make your stupid brains start to think that you are being stepped on?

The only reason why this messed up country has not been able to move to a better condition over more than 60 years of its independency is because those people on high level don’t feel like doing it. It is not that hard to make Indonesia as one of the next giants in Asia with all those resources that we have, China and India are doing it. But those people with their fancy cars and big houses in Menteng or Pondok Indah don’t feel like sharing the wealth. They want to keep us stupid and retarded. I know they all like to see us fighting against each other. I hope they rot in hell.

So, tell me what do I have to do to wake you up?

Come on!
Come on, although ya try to discredit
Ya still never edit
The needle, I’ll thread it
Radically poetic
Standin with the fury that they had in 66
And like e-double Im mad
Still knee-deep in the systems shit
Hoover, he was a body remover
I’ll give ya a dose
But it’ll never come close
To the rage built up inside of me
Fist in the air, in the land of hypocrisy

Movements come and movements go
Leaders speak, movements cease
When their heads are flown
cause all these punks
Got bullets in their heads
Departments of police, the judges, the feds
Networks at work, keepin people calm
You know they went after king
When he spoke out on vietnam
He turned the power to the have-nots
And then came the shot

Yeah, back in this…
Wit poetry, my mind I flex
Flip like wilson, vocals never lackin dat finesse
Whadda I got to, whadda I got to do to wake ya up
To shake ya up, to break the structure up
cause blood still flows in the gutter
I’m like takin photos
Mad boy kicks open the shutter
Set the groove
Then stick and move like I was cassius
Rep the stutter step
Then bomb a left upon the fascists
Yea, the several federal men
Who pulled schemes on the dream
And put it to an end

Ya better beware
Of retribution with mind war
20/20 visions and murals with metaphors

Networks at work, keepin people calm
Ya know they murdered x
And tried to blame it on islam
He turned the power to the have-nots
And then came the shot

What was the price on his head?
What was the price on his head!

I think I heard a shot (5 times)
I think I heard, I think I heard a shot

Background: black nationalism
he may be a real contender for this position should he
Abandon his supposed obediance to white liberal doctrine
Of non-violence…and embrace black nationalism
through counter-intelligence it should be possible to
Pinpoint potential trouble-makers…
and neutralise them

Wake up! wake up! wake up! wake up!
Wake up! wake up! wake up! wake up!

Spoken: how long? not long, cause
What you reap is what you sow.

Tasa, well said. I am not too familiarized with the situation in Indonesia, but i understand and see your anger against the corruption and poverty in your country. Indeed people need to wake up, because united they can be a great weapon. Its a reality in many countries..Nice speech you picked to go along with it. Again is something everyone can relate to. Here is great quote about anger: “Anger is only a natural reaction; one of the mind’s ways of reacting to things that it percieves to be wrong. While anger can sometimes lead people to do shocking things,it can also be an instinct to show people that something isn’t right.” So indeed there is a time to be angry and do something about it!!

Of course, indignation and even controled anger is in it’s place here. But for a change you need a clear vison of a society of social justice, a steadfast direction, a lot of cunning wit and the will to abstain of violence. Plus some great political idol(s) and communicator (s).

In the meantime SBY is not that bad. You said so yourself.

Government that I mentioned also means the House of Representative and all the national institutions. I am sure that many people on high level like to see this chaos happening because such condition makes them “safe” on the top.

Well, I don’t think SBY is part of that group of leaders. Let’s just hope.

Indonesia with soo many resources has not utilised its wealth in proper way..when I used to see poor gurls working as maids in Dubai.. I used to ask..what is wrong in Indonesia.. I got many answers… parity of wealth to all is not there.. U need to leader like Magathir Mohammed..
